Isabel Deist graduated as a physiotherapist at the University of Pretoria in 1996 and has a passion to help restore healthy sexual and emotional relationships in her professional role as a physiotherapist by treating pelvic pain. She has been in private practice since 1997 and has is currently situated at Mediclinic Kloof Hospital in Pretoria.

She has done numerous courses in Women’s Health Physiotherapy and has been treating patients with pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction and rehabilitation for several years. She also treats Men’s Health Pelvic Pain and Dysfunction. She has also completed a University of Pretoria accredited 2 year course in Pastoral Narrative Therapy. She is also involved in treating ante- and postnatal patients in hospital.

She is part of the Mysexualhealth Team and is currently treasurer of the Gauteng Pelvic & Women’s Health Special Interest Group of the South African Society of Physiotherapy.

Isabel also completed her ADPL 2 level in Pain Management and treat a numerous amount of chronic pain patients in the biopsychosocial model of pain. She is passionate about people and treating people in a holistic way to ensure successful outcomes.

Jóh-Ann Gouws

Physiotherapist

Jóh-Ann Gouws is a physiotherapist who graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2011. 

Jóh-Ann’s first love in physiotherapy is orthopaedics and musculo-skeletal rehabilitation, but her passion is pelvic health. She uses her knowledge gained from orthopaedic rehabilitation to compliment pelvic health therapy.

Jóh-Ann treats both females and males with pelvic health problems as well as children who have problems with leaking bladders or bowels and bed-wetting. 

She has a particular love for the treatment of post-natal pelvic pain and unconsummated marriages, but also deals with other pelvic pain or problems holistically.
Jóh-Ann believes strongly in educating the public and has therefore conducted various radio interviews and provides education through various social media platforms.

She serves on the Pelvic and Women’s Health Physiotherapy group committee of the South African Society of Physiotherapy and is a member of the My Sexual Helath team.
